Registered Dental Assistant
AOS is seeking an amazing person to serve as Oral Surgery Assistant, and be on the front lines of a busy, world-class orthognathic practice. We are seeking someone organized with a positive disposition. This is a fast-paced demanding role as AOS is a highly sought after practice with high volume. AOS is one of the busiest practices in the city of Houston and well-known for our methods in jaw surgery worldwide.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Register patients for surgery.
Verify insurances.
Assess patients' medical history and current status.
Assist the surgery scheduling staff in verifying the eligibility of patients for a given surgery.
Distribute forms to patients and gather information from them regarding pre-surgery instructions.
Communicate with physician's office staff regarding pending surgical procedures.
Communicate with clinic and hospital staff regarding patient's concerns.Key Responsibilities:
Assist the oral surgeon with a variety of surgical procedures, including but not limited to: dental implants, wisdom teeth extractions, bone grafting, and jaw surgery.
Prepare treatment rooms for procedures by sterilizing equipment, setting up instruments, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are readily available.
Greet patients, review their medical history, and explain the surgical process to them in a clear and compassionate manner.
Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and alert the oral surgeon to any concerns or changes in condition.
Provide post-operative instructions and educate patients on proper aftercare procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sterilizing instruments and disposing of biohazardous waste.
Communicate with other members of the dental team to ensure that patient care is coordinated and efficient.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a Dental Assistant or Oral Surgery Assistant preferred.
Previous experience working in a dental or oral surgery setting strongly preferred.
Knowledge of dental terminology and surgical procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate with patients and provide compassionate care.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
