Hillcrest’s 5th Floor General Medicine/Geriatric Medicine Unit is a 59-bed unit that supports adults and geriatric patients receiving medical, neurological and telemetry attention. This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Weekender Flex Program and will require you to work two 12-hour shifts per weekend and one 12-hour shift during the week. Weekend shift options start at 7:00pm on Fridays and end at 7:30am on Mondays. While you are only working 36 hours a week, Cleveland Clinic will pay you for 44 hours of work and give you full-time status and benefits. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of any errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule.

A caregiver in this position works weekend nights from 7:00 p.m.– 7:30 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in various healthcare settings.  
  • Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.  
  • Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications. 
  • Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.  
  • Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.  
  • Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.  
  • Educate patients and families.  
  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing  
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)  
  • One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $33.50

Maximum hourly: $53.60
