APM/Project Manager – General Contractor

Markets: Medical / Healthcare, Higher Education, K–12

Position Overview

The APM/Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects across healthcare, higher education, and K–12 markets. This role oversees projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality, safety, and client expectations. Experience managing both new construction and renovation projects—often in active or occupied environments—is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of construction projects, including preconstruction, procurement, construction, and closeout
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, and consultants
  • Lead project teams including superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, cost reports, and forecasts
  • Oversee subcontractor buyout, scope coordination, and contract administration
  • Review drawings and specifications for constructability, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements—especially for healthcare and educational facilities
  • Coordinate work in occupied or operational environments with minimal disruption
  • Support design-build and construction management delivery methods, collaborating closely with design partners during preconstruction
  • Lead project closeout activities, including punch lists, turnover documentation, and owner training

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a General Contractor
  • Proven experience delivering projects in Medical/Healthcare, Higher Education, and/or K–12 markets
  • Experience with both new construction and renovation projects
  • Construction Management and Design-Build experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, cost management, and contract administration
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex project requirements
  • Proficiency in construction software (Procore, MS Project, Primavera, or similar)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
