Medical Physicist | Boise, ID | 3-Month Contract | Onsite | Oncology Administration

Provide critical medical physics expertise in a hospital oncology department. This contract role focuses on radiation therapy quality assurance, treatment planning support, and ensuring safe, effective delivery of cancer care. Work directly with medical professionals, patients, and staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

• Title: Medical Physicist

• Type: Contract 

• Duration: 3 months (April 13, 2026 – July 12, 2026)

• Hours: 36 hours per week

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM MST

• Work Type: Onsite

• Reporting Location: Boise, ID (1055 N Curtis Rd)

• Department: Oncology Administration

• Start Date: April 13, 2026

COMPENSATION:

• Pay Rate: $160.52/hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

TREATMENT PLANNING & PATIENT CARE:

• Plan and ensure patients' radiation treatment execution

• Work directly with patients to explain treatment plans

• Analyze images and data to aid diagnosis and treatment planning

• Review treatment plans for accuracy and safety

• Ensure optimal dose delivery to target areas

• Support treatment modifications as needed

RADIATION SAFETY & QUALITY ASSURANCE:

• Provide advice about radiation protection

• Manage radiotherapy quality assurance programmes

• Ensure equipment operates safely and effectively

• Conduct regular equipment calibration and testing

• Maintain compliance with radiation safety standards

• Document all QA activities and results

IMAGING & DATA ANALYSIS:

• Analyze medical images for treatment planning

• Work with nuclear imaging data and diagnostic information

• Process and interpret physics-related medical data

• Support imaging equipment optimization

• Ensure image quality meets clinical standards

EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT:

• Develop and procure medical physics equipment

• Investigate and troubleshoot equipment issues

• Ensure equipment maintenance schedules are followed

• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment

• Maintain detailed equipment records and documentation

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

• Train healthcare, scientific, and technical staff

• Update staff on radiation safety and new procedures

• Provide in-service education on physics principles

• Support continuing education for clinical team

• Mentor junior staff and students as needed

RESEARCH & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

• Carry out clinical research and quality improvement projects

• Analyze treatment outcomes and efficacy data

• Publish findings and present at professional meetings

• Stay current with advances in medical physics

• Participate in professional committees and meetings

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

• PhD or Master's degree in Medical Physics or related field (required)

• ABR (American Board of Radiology) certification by ABR (required)

• Current state medical physics license or eligibility (required)

• CAMPEP-accredited program completion preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 2+ years of medical physics experience

• Radiotherapy physics experience required

• Diagnostic imaging physics experience preferred

• Quality assurance and compliance experience

• Patient interaction and clinical experience

• Academic or clinical research experience preferred

• Contract/traveler medical physics experience a plus

TECHNICAL SKILLS & SYSTEMS:

• EPIC proficiency preferred

• ARIA RadOnc system experience preferred

• Shared Drive/CTC-RadOnc experience preferred

• Treatment planning system expertise

• Dosimetry software proficiency

• Strong data analysis and computational skills

• Familiarity with dose calculation algorithms

• Experience with QA software and tools

CLINICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• Expert understanding of radiation physics principles

• Comprehensive knowledge of radiation safety standards

• Understanding of cancer treatment protocols

• Knowledge of diagnostic imaging modalities

• Proficiency in dose calculations and measurements

• Understanding of treatment planning optimization
