Director of LU Shepherd to Athletic

Provide overall strategic direction and continual guidance for the Office of Spiritual Developments (OSD) goals, initiatives, and operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Oversee the holistic spiritual development for the student-athlete population in alignment with the core principles and values of the Office of Spiritual Development.
  2. Direct and manage the selection and development of Graduate Scholars (GS) who serve as the primary arm of ministry and discipleship-making among student athletes.
  3. In alignment with the Office of Spiritual Development and the LU Shepherd department, and working with the Graduate Scholars, oversee programming and spiritual formation strategies to provide effective ministry to student athletes.
  4. Build rapport and relationships within the Liberty University Athletic Department, specifically among coaches, administration, staff, and, as necessary, student athletes.
  5. Develop and execute all aspects of selection and development of Graduate Scholars.
  6. Provide appropriate mentorship, spiritual counseling, and life-skills coaching to Graduate Scholars to help them achieve the mission of LU Shepherd and the Office of Spiritual Development.
  7. Manage the development of programming ideas, mentoring programs, and their implementation.
  8. Act as the primary point of contact for Graduate Students in their ministry to student athletes.
  9. Participate in hospital visitation for the athletic student population.
  10. Oversee and manage Graduate Student team travel schedules.
  11. Meet with students one-on-one, providing pastoral counseling as necessary.
  12. Act as liaison to faculty, staff, and administration regarding student-athlete related questions or concerns.
  13. Assist administration with athletic student-related issues/resolutions (Chancellor, President, Student Advocate, International Student Office, etc.).
  14. Collect, monitor, and review assessment-related data and reports.
  15. Attend Convocation and Campus Community events.
  16. Remain informed about emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and industry benchmarks.
  17. Work effectively as a team member, embracing LUs mission.
  18. Assist the Executive Director with other duties as appropriate.
