The Printing Lead is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the completion of work orders in the Printing department.

As a Printing Lead at IPL you will:

• To provide support and back-up to printing supervisor through excellent communication skills and by maintaining good working relationships with other printing team members.
• To monitor and minimize press downtime and help to optimize the use of printing labor hours, minimizing scrap.
• To understand the management of prepress process and line and process artwork and can assist the graphics department and in the process of making artwork, negatives, plates and ink color selection
• Ensures presses are running at, or above standard speeds.
• Demonstrate ability to perform all required duties of printing trainee, printer, printing lead and material handler.
• Perform mechanical and print repairs on both container and lid presses.
• Work with the art department on new artwork. Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency mixing inks, making plates and labels as needed.
• Proof new jobs and coordinate with pre-press any necessary changes.
• Report daily production and scrap amounts assist supervisor with end of shift paperwork and help log productivity issues. Capable of entering production on production report and input data to A/S 400 (BPCS).
• Monitor quality during shift and make proper adjustment for improvement and ensure trend boards are used correctly and consistently.
• Report any inventory issues including inks, plates, and mechanical parts to appropriate parties
• Ensures highest standard of quality being produced.
• Adhere to a strict code of conduct that includes personal behavior that exemplifies professionalism.
• Ensure all printing personnel follow Food Safety Guidelines and Safety Protocol and lead by example.
• Help coordinate daily shift activities, set priorities and goals prior to beginning shift.
• Teach others to perform work that is consistent with all company policies and procedures.
• Assist printer trainees, leads and printers in troubleshooting press/print problems.
• Actively participate in all shift meetings. Report shift performance information to assist the next shift in a smooth transition and inform oncoming Print Lead of any performance issues prior to ending shift.
• Must assist with the training of printer trainees, printers and lead printer trainees.
• Assist in performing routine cleaning of all machines. Ensure that each machine free of dust, ink and dirt so clean parts can be produced.
• Ensure department is neat and clean by confirming that master sanitation schedules are completed.

What you will bring to the role:

• Experience in a manufacturing print department
•  Independently make decisions concerning shift operation. 
•  High level of mechanical knowledge are proficient at troubleshooting and can perform mechanical and print repairs on both container and lid presses.
