College a plus. Some courses in sales, marketing, buying, and computers. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively staff.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:3 years in pro shop retail. Must be able to operate a cash register, computer, and telephone.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:Must have working knowledge of computer, inventory control, cash register, phone, and all aspects of golf buying including fashion and accessories. Knowledgeable of the game of golf.
JOB SUMMARY:Directs all aspects of pro shop buying, sales, marketing, and inventory control. Maintains constant contact with area representatives and full knowledge of buying trends.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Must have high energy and be able to work for long periods of time in smaller quarters, and be able to lift 30 pounds above head to include using a stepladder to reach up for boxes.
Duties And FunctionsProfessional Standards & Conduct
- Maintain a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and split shifts as business demands.
- Arrive punctually and consistently for all scheduled shifts.
- Report to work in proper uniform—clean, pressed, and in good repair—maintaining a professional and polished appearance in accordance with our uniform & grooming standards.
- Keep hair and personal grooming neat, clean, and presentable and as outlined in the colleague handbook.
- Attend all required training sessions, safety courses, and departmental meetings.
- Immediately report any safety concerns or hazards and assist in ensuring corrective action is taken to maintain a safe work environment.
Guest Service & Shop Operations
- Provide a warm, personalized greeting to members and guests—using names whenever possible.
- Open and close the Pro Shop according to established procedures.
- Answer telephones courteously and professionally, providing accurate information and service consistent with our Forbes Standards.
- Assist members and guests with product selection, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of golf and tennis merchandise.
- Process sales transactions accurately, handling cash, credit, and billing in accordance with our procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail environment at all times.
Merchandising & Inventory Management
- Support the Director of Retail Operations & Director of Golf in executing a profitable, efficient, and innovative merchandising strategy.
- Purchase, receive, enter, price, and display merchandise.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date shop inventories for all golf and tennis retail locations.
- Monitor daily deliveries and ensure timely receiving and stocking of merchandise.
- Create appealing visual displays and seasonal presentations that enhance product visibility and sales.
- Stay current with golf and tennis apparel trends & styles to better guide members and guests in selections.
- Track and analyze sales performance and merchandise trends to discuss with Director of Retail Operations.
Member Engagement & Special Events
- Coordinate member and guest tournaments, special events, and promotional activities as it relates to retail sales and promotional gifts.
- Support and host retail-focused experiences such as trunk shows, themed events, and product launches for both members and resort guests as directed by the Director of Retail Operations and the Director of Golf.
- Support and implement a corporate and group sales program for resort clients as directed by the Director of Retail Operations and the Director of Golf.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Department to promote retail offerings through newsletters, social media, and golf industry channels.
- Plan and execute in-shop sales promotions and seasonal merchandising campaigns to drive engagement and revenue as directed by the Director of Retail Operations and the Director of Golf.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise, train, and mentor retail staff, clerks, and merchandising assistants; assist in hiring and performance evaluations.
- Foster a welcoming, engaging, and service-oriented atmosphere that reflects the luxury standards of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.
- Coordinate with other departments to fulfill special group amenities, and event-related merchandise needs.
- Conduct product knowledge sessions and vendor seminars for golf and tennis staff to enhance service and sales expertise.
- Maintain a visible presence on the retail floor to support staff and engage with members and guests directly.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Retail Operations and the Director of Golf.
