Pay: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year

Location

Phoenix, AZ — This is an in-office opportunity designed for close collaboration with the executive committee, operations, acquisitions, and other key business leaders.

Note:

An active Arizona bar license is required, along with a Juris Doctor degree. Candidates should have some real estate legal experience or a demonstrated passion for real estate, plus the drive, judgment, intelligence, and self-starter mindset to succeed in a highly visible in-house role.

Job Description

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to leadership and business teams on real estate, corporate, operational, and compliance matters.
  • Provide practical legal guidance on real estate transactions, landlord-tenant matters, corporate governance, contracts, and regulatory issues.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage leases, vendor agreements, investment agreements, and other commercial contracts.
  • Partner with the acquisitions team on due diligence, transaction documents, negotiations, closing activities, and related legal matters.
  • Manage and strategically direct outside counsel to ensure legal matters are handled efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify legal and business risks and develop practical strategies to mitigate exposure and protect company interests.
  • Oversee disputes, litigation, eviction matters, appeals, and settlement discussions in coordination with outside counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and improve legal and compliance processes, policies, and standards across the organization.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate changes into clear, actionable guidance for leadership.
  • Train employees and operational teams on legal, compliance, contract, and risk-related matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement by helping standardize processes, strengthen accountability, and support sound business decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Arizona bar license or eligibility for Arizona in-house counsel registration.
  • 1+ year of relevant real estate legal experience preferred; broader corporate, transactional, litigation, or in-house experience will be considered.
  • Strong interest in real estate and the ability to quickly develop business and industry expertise.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and judgment skills.
  • Self-starter who is intellectually curious, driven, practical, and comfortable taking ownership.
  • Ability to work confidently with executives, operations teams, acquisitions professionals, outside counsel, and other stakeholders.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, business-focused environment.
