Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, disciplined in execution, and thrives in a high-performance kitchen environment. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating dishes according to Brick Lane’s standards while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prep dishes according to standardized recipes and plating guidelines
- Prepare mise en place efficiently before service
- Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and presentation
- Work all stations as assigned (grill, sauté, tandoor, garde, etc.)
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe guidelines)
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation
- Assist with inventory, prep lists, and stock rotation (FIFO)
- Communicate effectively with chefs and team members during service
- Handle high-volume service with speed and accuracy
- Assist in receiving and inspecting deliveries
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of professional kitchen experience (Indian cuisine experience preferred but not required)
- Strong knife skills and understanding of cooking techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
- Open availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Skills
- Experience with tandoor or live-fire cooking
- Familiarity with spice blends and Indian flavor profiles
- Fine dining or upscale casual experience
- Culinary school training is a plus
