Assistant Director, Events Management Department - Springfield

The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) is seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant Director in the Events Management Department. This position reports to the Director of Events Management and will be headquartered in IASB’s Springfield office. 

Position Summary: The primary duties of this role include providing support with all logistical aspects of the Joint Annual Conference and other Association meetings and/or events which require the services of the Events Management Department. Additional responsibilities include pre-planning and execution of regional IASB events along with affiliated National events under the guidance and direction of the Director of Events Management. The position requires a focused emphasis on customer service, responsiveness, and accuracy.

Education and/or Experience Requirements: The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma, along with three to five years of event management and planning experience. A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a relevant subject is a plus; marketing education and/or experience is highly desirable. Candidates should possess exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to work independently and take initiative to start and finish projects. Additional requirements include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel and Word.

The employee must have a valid Illinois drivers’ license and a vehicle; mileage and reasonable travel reimbursement will be provided. 

This position requires the employee to be able to be able to lift, move, and safely handle boxes and materials up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions of the position. 

The position offers an annual salary of $58,656 – $69,000, with a generous benefits package that includes holidays, vacation and sick time, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement benefits. Position will be eligible for Hybrid work after 90 days of employment.
