This is an opportunity to work in a salaried UAW Laboratory as a scientific lab engineer at Ford Central Laboratory. This is an entry level full time/onsite position where the candidate will work as a resource for chemical related issues in a laboratory environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities for this position will be the analysis of automotive fluids (engine oils, transmission fluids etc.) The candidate will learn and perform automotive fluid testing utilizing specialized laboratory equipment including elemental analysis, Total Acid and Base Number, Viscosity, Fuel Dilution and Oxidation/Nitration. The candidate will also learn to analyze tail pipe emission compounds via HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography). Longer term possible responsibilities would expand to failure analysis of automotive components to help identify root causes of production, durability and warranty issues.
