I’m donut ? is looking for a creative, hands-on Bakery / Pastry Sous Chef who’s ready to bring exceptional technique, consistency, and care to every donut — and to the team behind them.

As part of our management team, you’ll help lead the New York flagship of the brand that redefined the donut experience in Japan and continues to build something special here in Times Square.

Under the creative vision of Chef Ryouta Hirako, I’m donut ? is known for its signature nama donuts — fresh, melt-in-your-mouth donuts made with a unique brioche-style dough and finished with a variety of glazes, toppings, and fillings.

Our Times Square shop features our signature favorites along with flavors inspired by New York, all crafted fresh throughout the day.

Our team brings creativity, care, and high standards to everything we do. As a Sous Chef, you’ll help guide daily production, support and develop the kitchen team, and continue elevating the donut experience for our guests.

What You’ll Get to DoHelp lead daily kitchen production

You’ll support the day-to-day flow of the kitchen and help ensure prep, production, and execution are organized, efficient, and aligned with our standards.

Create and oversee exceptional product

You’ll work hands-on with our unique menu items and help ensure every donut, filling, topping, and component is prepared with consistency, precision, and care.

Support and develop the team

You’ll help train, coach, and motivate kitchen team members while leading by example and contributing to a positive, high-performing work environment.

Help keep the kitchen running smoothly

You’ll play a key role in organization, food safety, cleanliness, inventory awareness, and maintaining the systems and standards that keep the operation strong.

Be part of the full guest experience

At I’m donut ?, every role contributes to the overall experience. You’ll be trained in guest-facing standards and ready to jump in wherever needed to support the team and the business.

You Have

  • 1–2+ years of leadership experience in a fast-paced environment preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional cooking, pastry, or bakery experience in a high-quality restaurant, bakery, or similar environment
  • A hospitality degree or culinary/pastry certification preferred, but not required
  • A strong commitment to excellence and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to inspire, support, and develop a culinary team
  • A genuine appreciation for the people you work with and a desire to contribute to a positive team culture
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills
  • A sharp eye for detail and consistency
  • A willingness to stay hands-on and support wherever needed
  • Valid Food Safety Certification
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
