We are seeking a certified operator to manage and perform slitter machine operations. This role involves both machine operation and packaging responsibilities to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production of rolls. The operator will work collaboratively to maintain continuous production, adhere to safety and quality standards, and prepare the line for the next shift.
*Responsibilities*
* Operate and monitor slitter machine during production.
* Load next mill roll and set up cores for production.
* Remove trim rolls and collect samples from mill rolls.
* Manage loading into 240 positions.
* Package finished rolls and transport leftover cores to the bailer.
* Maintain cleanliness in the packaging area.
* Ensure all labeling and banding are completed accurately.
* Run meanders, apply labels, and manage running rolls.
* Perform splices, check final target lengths, and oversee unloading processes.
* Conduct size changes, monitor for defects, and check roll hardness.
* Complete all required paperwork, including production sheets and hardness sheets.
* Maintain cleanliness and order around the slitter area (sweeping, trash removal).
* Communicate with the supervisor for roll and splice checks.
* Support packaging activities when necessary
*End-of-Shift Duties*
* Follow supervisor’s instructions promptly.
* Maintain 5S standards by keeping work areas clean and organized.
* Perform end-of-shift preparation, including:
* Removing all trash and plastic waste.
* Preparing cores cut to correct sizes and rolls of labels.
* Completing paperwork with production data.
* Checking meanders and preparing sideboards for the next shift.
* Ensure smooth handover by leaving the workstation fully prepared.
*Requirements*
* Previous experience as a slitter operator, machine operator, or packaging operator preferred.
* Ability to safely operate an electric pallet jack (must add water biweekly).
* Strong attention to detail and quality control.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Physical ability to handle rolls and packaging materials.
* Willingness to work rotating shifts, with breaks staggered (only one operator at a time).
