Job Description

Jeff Robards Construction (JRC) specializes in site development work – doing everything from finished grading residential lots to moving mass earth. Crews also install water and storm water systems, as well as sanitary sewer systems in conjunction with the earth moving work. JRC clients include a mix of government, commercial and residential customers within Jefferson, Meade, Bullitt, Oldham, Spencer and Henry Counties. We pride ourselves in having an extensive background in residential site development projects, from single-family homes to condominium/apartment sites, and subdivisions. We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator with 5+ years of industry experience to join our team. This role is ideal for a highly motivated professional who is comfortable working independently, taking full ownership of the estimating process, and collaborating with internal team members as needed.

The Construction Estimator will play a critical role in supporting project planning, profitability, and company growth by preparing accurate and competitive bids, analyzing project documents, and presenting pricing and scope information to company leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates and bids for construction projects
• Review and analyze project plans, specifications, takeoffs, and scope requirements
• Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Identify potential project risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering solutions
• Present estimates, bids, and cost breakdowns to company leadership and stakeholders
• Maintain well-organized estimating files and historical cost data
• Coordinate with project managers and internal team members as needed, while remaining primarily responsible for estimating activities
• Ensure all estimates align with company standards, market conditions, and project objectives

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Civil Construction Estimator
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost structures
• Proven ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize multiple estimates
• Comfortable presenting pricing, scope, and assumptions to internal teams and leadership
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Proficiency with HCSS estimating software and Microsoft Excel (preferred)
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
