The part-time communications instructor will be responsible for teaching 4 sections of the following course in the Fall Semester, which officially begins on August 25, 2026 and ends on December 18, 2026. All classes are in-person and during the course of the academic day. There are no night-time, evening or online classes.

COMM 110 Effective Speaking (3 credits) Teaches students the principles of articulate speaking through familiarization with concepts and mechanics of spoken communication and through practical usage. Develops understanding of speech processing, speech-building (including research), speech delivery, nonverbal communication, self- and peer evaluation, problem solving, and terminology associated with the physical act of speaking. Provides instruction in the successful performance of six types of speeches (memorized passage, impromptu, extemporaneous, demonstrative, persuasive, and informative). Includes study of the founder’s history.

Also, the part-time communications instructor will be responsible for teaching up to 4 sections of the following course in the Spring Semester, which officially begins on January 11, 2027 and ends on May 20, 2027. All classes are in-person and during the course of the academic day. There are no night-time, evening or online classes.

COMM 240 Speech Communications (3 credits) Offers advanced study of communication based on intrapersonal and interpersonal skills needed in the workplace. Emphasis is placed on listening, conflict management, customer relations, group dynamics, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide communications instruction in alignment and support of established learning outcomes.
  • Regularly and consistently monitor and record student aptitude and performance in classroom by means of standard assessments, while also supporting student success.
  • Create a focused, engaged, and equitable learning environment by being highly motivated and engaging the students in the learning process, while also meeting students where they are skill and competency-wise and teaching through experiential and meaningful assignments.
  • Serve as a role model for students and embrace/demonstrate the school’s core values.
  • Comply with the school’s academic policies related to grading, academic probation, course failure, and course failure remediation.
  • Effectively update and manage course information and student performance within the college’s learning management system and/or student information management system.
  • Be positive, energetic, energetic, dependable and have the ability to collaborate and communicate with integrity. 
  • Encourage and enforce student compliance with Williamson’s Conduct Code.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled in-service training sessions, as able.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain effective communication and close cooperation with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and AVP/Registrar along with other faculty/staff to effectively attain the overall educational objectives of the program.
  • Perform other duties, as occasionally assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs, AVP/Registrar, Provost and/or the President.

QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                      

  • Master’s Degree in Communications, English or a related discipline required.
  • Teaching experience at the secondary and/or post-secondary levels strongly desired. 
  • Ability to teach in-person, during the course of the school day is required.
