The Work

The Consultant is a vital contributor to our team and project work. The role assists and/or spearheads client‑facing interactions, defines approaches, and leads project tasks. Consultants direct workstreams, develop written reports, deliver findings and summaries to customers, and present results. Duties expand to investigative tasks, core QA/QC of products, and becoming a technical lead on project needs.

Typical Responsibilities
  • Assist in delivering client work: modeling, presentations, reports, and support requests
  • Conduct independent research using curiosity and ingenuity
  • Fulfill end‑to‑end internal project obligations
  • Deliver presentations and field customer questions
  • Perform analytical tasks and apply QA/QC best practices
  • Develop proficiency with flagship modeling tools and data vetting
  • Assist in proposal writing
  • Translate results into clear visual representations
  • Support project heads with spreadsheet development for client solutions
  • Modify existing tools and models for improved functionality
  • Track own work performance and communicate with managers
  • Document project learnings and produce repeatable outputs

Requirements
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in engineering, economics, computer science, public policy, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of related experience in an energy‑related field
  • Prior experience addressing renewable energy and climate‑change issues or advanced academic project work
  • Hands‑on experience or extensive knowledge in one of E3’s practice areas
  • Collaborative mindset, with respect for diverse team experiences
  • Ability to translate technical concepts to broad audiences
