Cost Accountant | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $64,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and production overheads to identify cost drivers and areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
• Prepare detailed cost reports, profitability analyses, and inventory valuations for management review.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities related to inventory and cost of goods sold.
• Assist in the preparation of manufacturing budgets and forecasts, monitoring actual performance against budget.
• Collaborate with operations and production teams to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and internal controls related to cost accounting.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
