Our client is seeking a Project Engineer to support land‑development projects from early design through construction layout. This role focuses on producing accurate engineering drawings, preparing site‑civil design components, and supporting survey teams throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate has strong AutoCAD experience, hands‑on land‑development knowledge, and the ability to translate conceptual plans into construction‑ready engineering documents.

Responsibilities:

Engineering Design & Drafting

• Update plans based on field conditions, redlines, and client feedback.
• Convert conceptual site plans into detailed, construction‑ready engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Prepare engineering drawings and plan sets for grading, drainage, utilities, roadway design, and site layout.

Site‑Civil Calculations & Technical Support

• Assist with stormwater/drainage design, utility routing, and site‑civil calculations.
• Ensure all drawings meet local, county, and state land‑development standards.
• Support project managers with technical documentation and design coordination.

Survey & Construction Layout Support

• Coordinate with surveyors and field personnel to resolve design or layout issues.
• Support construction layout workflows and ensure accuracy of field‑ready drawings.
• Provide stakeout information, layout data, and field‑related updates to survey teams.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Communicate design changes, field updates, and technical requirements clearly and promptly.
• Work closely with project managers, survey teams, and field staff to maintain project accuracy and progress.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• 5+ years of land‑development engineering experience.
• Ability to create precise, construction‑ready engineering drawings.
• Experience supporting surveyors and construction layout workflows.
• Hands‑on AutoCAD experience specifically applied to land‑development projects.
• Experience producing drawings for grading, drainage, utilities, roadway layout, or construction layout.
• Associate degree or technical diploma accepted; BS in Civil Engineering or PE license is a plus but not required.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of NJ land‑development standards.
• Experience with Civil 3D or other civil‑design CAD tools.
• Exposure to stormwater modeling or drainage calculations.
• Field experience supporting construction or survey stakeout.
