is hiring a Digital Manager to oversee the magazine’s website, store, newsletters, Substack, and digital strategy. This position will report directly to the Marketing & Communications Director.

Compensation: $85,000-$100,000, company-provided health care (100% covered), dental and vision benefits, paid holidays, 3 weeks PTO in addition to federal holidays, sick and personal days, and additional company benefits. . Major areas of responsibility
Oversee and manage website design/development to ensure the organization’s web presence is up-to-date, user-friendly, and SEO-optimized. Stay up to date with digital trends and technologies and recommend new initiatives that will benefit the organization’s digital strategy. Prepare each month’s print content to launch on
harpers.org
. Create and monitor metrics to measure the effectiveness of digital campaigns and strategies, regularly review analytical reports, and utilize data to improve performance across various digital channels. Implement all front-end website updates. Produce
Harper’s
e-newsletters. Liaise with
Harper’s
fulfillment service to facilitate online subscription sales, the store, and to address online user problems. Act as the main point of contact for contracted developers and IT consultants for ongoing back-end updates, cybersecurity, and internal tech concerns. Collaborate closely with Editorial, Marketing, Development, and Advertising departments. Lead a monthly digital meeting with department heads to update on the health and effectiveness of the website, e-newsletters, Substack, and traffic insights. Directly supervise the Digital Assistant and co-manage, with the Marketing & Communications Director, the digital marketing interns (seasonal). Other duties as assigned. Required experience
Proven experience as a Digital Manager, with at least 5 years in a similar role. A degree in marketing, business, or a related field. Experience in creating and executing comprehensive digital marketing strategies that deliver business results. In-depth knowledge of PPC advertising, SEO, and social media marketing. Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Flexible thinking and adaptable communication skills to work with different teams to communicate ideas and strategies to improve the overall growth of the organization. Proficiency in website editing tools (you do not need to know a coding language), content management systems, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools. Experience using WordPress. Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices for accessible digital content. Preferred experience
Experience using Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, and GA4 reporting. Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar. Knowledge and Skills
Advanced analytical skills with a passion for data and metrics, with the ability to interpret data and provide recommendations for optimizing marketing and communications strategy and campaigns. Proven project management skills, including the ability to remain organized and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and limited resources. Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external constituents in a friendly and professional manner. Ability to work independently, be a self-starter, and motivate oneself to achieve success. Strong focus on audience and end-user needs. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
