Dispatcher - Liquids (Emergency and Non-Emergency Water/Wastewater Services).

Location: Houston, TX.Employment Type: Full-Time.Compensation: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a highly organized, proactive, and experienced Dispatcher - Liquids to join our team in Houston, TX. This position plays a vital role in the real-time execution of our daily operations by coordinating the movement of trucks and drivers delivering emergency and non-emergency water and wastewater services. As a Dispatcher, you will act as the central communication point between field operations, logistics, and customer service teams, ensuring that all scheduled activities are executed with precision, safety, and efficiency. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, can adapt to shifting priorities, and possess a strong commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Execution & Route Management:

  • Monitor daily routes and driver activity in real time using dispatch software and GPS tracking tools.
  • Make proactive adjustments to dispatch plans to accommodate on-the-ground conditions or emergent service requests.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all field drivers, providing support, direction, and real-time updates throughout the workday.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Coordinator on any service disruptions, emergencies, or unplanned events to quickly develop and implement alternative solutions.
  • Ensure drivers are fully briefed on their daily routes, safety requirements, and any last-minute changes before dispatching.
  • Reinforce safe and DOT-compliant driving practices to minimize risks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Update dispatch boards, route sheets, Excel documents, service notes, FileMaker calendars, and other platforms with accurate, real-time information.

Communication & Interdepartmental Coordination:

  • Professionally manage and direct all inbound communication, routing calls promptly to the correct departments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve driver issues such as incorrect addresses, blocked access, or customer delays, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Communicate with the Logistics Coordinator and Operations Manager regarding any route inefficiencies, safety concerns, or compliance issues.
  • Notify internal teams of customer-related concerns or complaints and assist in determining appropriate, timely responses.
  • Maintain strong, courteous, and effective communication with both internal staff and external customers at all times.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Accurately collect, verify, organize, and log all driver paperwork before submission to billing.
  • Ensure timely and standardized reporting of service completions, route changes, and delays.
  • Maintain detailed records of all dispatch activities for auditing, compliance, and performance tracking.
  • Support the Operations Manager with additional administrative and operational tasks as needed.

Candidate Profile:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Prior experience in truck dispatching and routing, ideally within a service-based or logistics-focused company.
  • Familiarity with “milk run/multi-stop routing” and efficient route planning strategies is a strong advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations and driver compliance protocols.
  • Proficient with standard office software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and dispatch management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or urgent situations.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor required for client-facing interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
  • Previous experience in the wastewater or environmental services industry.
  • Knowledge of the Greater Houston area and surrounding regions is beneficial.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based role with occasional periods of high call volume and urgency.
  • Long periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Light physical activity may be required (e.g., lifting paperwork, occasional filing).
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring quick decision-making and adaptability.
