This apprenticeship offers a structured training academy that prepares you to assist with and eventually perform mechanical and electrical builds of customer products. You will learn to read and interpret point-to-point wiring schematics and diagrams for 480V, 120V, and 24V systems, and receive in-depth training in crimping, pulling, terminating, and installing UL panels and subassemblies. After completing the training academy, you will work in a production cell environment wiring, assembling, and testing industrial control panels and switchgear systems according to detailed specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels and switchgear systems with a focus on 3-phase power distribution.
  • Pull, route, crimp, install, and test wiring using point-to-point schematics and diagrams.
  • Use tools such as multimeters, wire strippers, crimpers, torque wrenches, and other hand and power tools to complete electrical and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Perform part replacement on tools and equipment as needed and according to schedule.
  • Resolve routine questions and problems independently, escalating more complex issues to higher-level team members or supervisors.
  • Work under direct, close supervision with output monitored frequently to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Maintain documentation and update panel layouts and related records as needed.
  • Follow manufacturing protocols and lean production principles to support efficient, high-quality output.
  • Follow detailed written and verbal instructions, including visual aids, diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
  • Ensure the assigned work area remains clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
  • Comply with and follow all procedures within the company security policy and other applicable policies.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production and team goals.
  • Coordinate with teammates to organize tasks that require multiple team members, working effectively in smaller group teams within the work cell.
  • Communicate with inventory personnel to keep them informed of spare parts inventory levels and locations to support timely order fulfillment.
  • Work primarily within a designated cell unit, remaining mostly stationary around that unit for the duration of the shift.
  • Wire different sections of the assigned unit according to client specifications using point-to-point schematics.
  • Perform real-time point-to-point testing to verify accurate wiring, identify issues, and ensure there are no problems with wires or housings.

Essential Skills

  • Basic electrical wiring or electrical assembly experience preferred.
  • Strong initiative and motivation to learn a skilled trade through an in-depth training academy.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a production environment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability and drive to learn to interpret blueprints, graphs, electrical schematics, and related technical documentation.
  • Comfort working with electrical systems at 480V, 120V, and 24V after appropriate training.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions, including visual aids and diagrams.
  • Willingness to work weekend 2nd shift (5:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m., Friday through Sunday) after completing the training academy.
  • Reliability and professionalism in a training and classroom-style environment, including adherence to conduct expectations.
  • Comfort working in a team-based, cell production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using hand and power tools, including wire strippers, crimpers, torque wrenches, and multimeters.
  • Exposure to electrical testing, electronics, electronic assembly, or soldering.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and production environments.
  • Understanding of lean production principles and 5S workplace organization.
  • Comfort working in a structured training academy environment that includes classroom instruction and hands-on lab practice.

Expectations mirror a professional training or classroom setting, and adherence to conduct and dress standards is required. After training, you work in an extremely clean, temperature-controlled production environment. The electrical assembly area consists of cell stations with large working areas, where teams of approximately 5–7 technicians collaborate to assemble units according to specification.
