We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and relationship-centered professional to join our team as a Family Advocate, a role that provides direct advocacy and life-changing support to youth and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

About the Role

As aFamily Advocate, you will provide compassionate support, education, and advocacy to children and non-offending caregivers throughout the investigative and healing process.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building trust, responding with empathy during times of crisis, and helping families feel supported, informed, and empowered as they navigate complex systems.

Youll work closely with BraveBes multidisciplinary team, including law enforcement, child welfare professionals, medical providers, and prosecutors; to ensure children and families receive coordinated, trauma-informed care every step of the way.

What Youll Do

Advocate for Children & Families

  • Welcome children and caregivers to BraveBe and create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment
  • Build trusting relationships with youth and caregivers, helping meet immediate needs like safety, housing, and stability by identifying urgent needs and connecting them with resources such as housing, food, transportation, and trauma-informed mental health services

Guide Families Through the Process

  • Educate caregivers about abuse dynamics and the multidisciplinary response process
  • Keep families informed throughout investigations and prosecution proceedings
  • Support children and caregivers through court preparation, Court School, and Victim Impact Statements

Build Trust & Promote Healing

  • Conduct ongoing follow-up and safety monitoring with caregivers
  • Foster trusting relationships that promote stability, resilience, and healing
  • Provide information regarding victims rights and available community resources

Collaborate for Impact

  • Partner closely with multidisciplinary team members to support best practices in child abuse response and treatment
  • Participate in case reviews, internal staffing meetings, and collaborative advocacy efforts
  • Maintain accurate and timely case documentation and outcome data with care and integrity

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, human services or related field (associates degree may be considered with extensive experience)
  • Experience working with children and families impacted by trauma preferred
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with youth, families, and professionals
  • Ability to respond calmly and compassionately in emotional or crisis situations
  • A collaborative mindset and passion for mission-driven work

Role Details

  • Full-time, exempt position (40 hours/week)
  • Salary starting at $37,000, depending on experience, education, and bilingual status
  • Occasional evening/weekend hours and rotational on-call responsibilities required
  • Occasional travel throughout Southeast Nebraska required on a rotational basis
  • Reports to Advocacy Program Manager
