Insurance Defense Attorney

Our client is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join its growing litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong civil litigator who wants meaningful responsibility, hands on case work, and a clear path for long term growth within a respected practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling a wide range of insurance defense and general liability matters, including case strategy, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation. Candidates with experience in products liability, premises liability, personal injury defense, casualty matters, or other complex civil defense work are especially encouraged to apply.

Position Overview

This attorney will play a key role in managing litigation matters from early evaluation through resolution. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with clients, take ownership of files, and contribute to a busy and sophisticated defense practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage insurance defense and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Handle written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances
• Develop case strategy and evaluate liability and damages exposure
• Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial
• Communicate directly with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, reports, and coverage or litigation analyses as needed
• Support trial efforts, including first chair or second chair responsibilities depending on experience
• Work collaboratively with partners and other attorneys across the litigation team

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active license and good standing in the relevant jurisdiction
• 3 to 6+ years of litigation experience preferred
• Strong background in insurance defense, general liability, or civil defense litigation
• Experience with products liability, premises liability, personal injury defense, casualty defense, or related matters is a plus
• Excellent writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Deposition and courtroom experience preferred
• Trial experience is a plus
• Ability to manage files independently and communicate effectively with clients
