Journeyman Electrician - Kuparuk Materials Group - Camp Maintenance

JOB SUMMARY

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing the full range of journey-level electrical work including the installation and maintenance of industrial and commercial electrical equipment. This position is tasked with troubleshooting and repair of power and control systems of mobile equipment such as Tioga oil fired heaters and trailer mounted generators. You will be working with a wide range of system voltages from 12Vdc up to 480Vac. All work must be performed in accordance with NEC and NPFA 70E standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Review schematics, electrical drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements.
  • Must have user level knowledge of MS Office.
  • Ability to calculate electrical loads for proper wire and equipment sizing.
  • Install, repair, and maintain breaker boxes, electrical outlets, light switches, lighting fixtures, electrical wiring, fuses, and other components of an electrical system.
  • Operate electrical equipment and tools such as hydraulic benders, knockout punch sets, cable pullers, multi meters, and testers.
  • Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments.
  • Perform routine electrical repair projects and preventative maintenance.
  • Test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Plan the layout and wiring of new or modified installations.
  • Select, install, and pull wiring to the required equipment locations.
  • Estimate cost, time, and materials for electrical projects.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and ask for help when it's needed.
  • Oilfield experience preferred.
  • Experience working a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of four (4) years or 8,000 hours experience required.
  • Troubleshooting experience required.
  • State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness Journey Level classification required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of electrical trade school preferred.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms.  Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
