Renwick Hospitality Group — operators of Lindens, Altair, Lulla, Foxtail, and other F&B operations have recently taken over the full food & beverage program at Arlo Washington D.C. — We are seeking a Lead Barista to support daily café operations, team development, and beverage excellence across the property. This role blends craft, consistency, leadership, and hands‑on operational support.

The Lead Barista sets the tone for the café: warm, organized, guest‑focused, and committed to Renwick’s standards of service.

 

What You’ll DoCoffee & Beverage Leadership

• Prepare espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages to Renwick Hospitality standards with consistency and precision.
• Maintain strong knowledge of our coffee program, seasonal offerings, and all café beverages.
• Support recipe development, menu updates, and quality control.

Training & Team Development

• Train new baristas on coffee preparation, equipment use, service standards, and café systems.
• Provide ongoing coaching to ensure consistency in beverage builds, guest interaction, and pace of service.
• Lead by example during peak periods, setting the tone for speed, accuracy, and hospitality.

Ordering, Inventory & Stock Management

• Support ordering for coffee, syrups, milks, retail items, pastries, and all café operating supplies.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and communicate needs clearly to management.
• Ensure all fridges, shelves, and storage areas are properly stocked, rotated, and organized.

Daily Operations & Prep

• Oversee café setup each morning, ensuring all stations are fully stocked and guest‑ready.
• Support prep including grinding, batching, labeling, and maintaining par levels.
• Maintain all equipment — espresso machines, grinders, brewers — and communicate service needs promptly.

Guest Service & Steps of Service

• Deliver warm, attentive service to hotel guests, locals, and regulars.
• Guide guests through beverages, pastries, and café offerings with confidence.
• Communicate clearly with Servers, Hosts, and Managers to support smooth operations across the property.

Cleanliness, Organization & End‑of‑Shift Duties

• Follow and uphold all café task lists to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
• Ensure all equipment is cleaned, backstock is replenished, and the café is reset for the next shift.
• Maintain signage, labeling, and café presentation standards.

• Prior barista experience required; leadership or trainer experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to coach and support a team.
• Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
• A positive attitude, professional presence, and a team‑first mindset.
• Availability for mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
