Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing eye care team. The ideal candidate will support ophthalmologist by performing preliminary eye exams, assisting with procedures, and delivering an exceptional patient experience. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is passionate about patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary patient workups, including medical history and chief complaint documentation
  • Perform vision tests such as visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, and visual field testing
  • Administer eye drops and assist with diagnostic testing (OCT, fundus photography, etc.)
  • Prepare patients for examinations and minor procedures
  • Assist physician during exams and treatments
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment
  • Educate patients on procedures, medications, and post-visit care
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked and sanitized

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
  • 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a clinical setting
  • Certification such as COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) is a plus but not required
  • Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with EMR systems
