OR Circulator - Registered Nurse

Job Summary

• To function efficiently as a member of the Surgical team and to utilize specialized nursing knowledge and discriminative judgement while giving direct and indirect patient care.
• Performs tasks delegated to the circulator role.
• Checks OR for needed supplies and helps to prepare room for specific procedures.
• Checks patient chart for appropriate pre-op prep and procedures, assist in transporting patient to OR.
• Performs appropriate surgical prep.
• Completes documentation of OR records, lab requisitions and patient chart.
• Supervises and assists with proper, safe positioning of the patient.
• Performs sponge and needle count and documentation of same.
• Secures emergency equipment and supplies as needed.

 

Position Characteristics

This is currently a Five day a week, eight-hour day schedule. However, it will be necessary to perform some overtime beyond regularly scheduled work hours to provide patient care. Because of the nature of procedures in the OR and patient care issues, this job can be stressful and hectic.

 

Position Requirements

• Education: Associates degree in nursing
• Experience: 1-2 years of related experience is preferred.
• Experience and willingness to act in scrub role is preferred.
