RN INPATIENT - All Operating Rooms (OR) and Surgical Services Perioperative Program - University of New Mexico Hospital - Albuquerque We have immediate RN hiring across our ORs and Surgical Services Peri-Op Program. Sign-On Bonus Available Relocation Assistance Available Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentials CURRENTLY HIRING WITHIN: The CCT OR is an educational facility and the only level 1 trauma operating room in the state. As a result, the day to day is a busy fluid environment requiring staff to be flexible and adapt to change in the moment. Staff schedules are 3x 12-hour shifts, which consists of day (0645-1915), evening (0845-2115, 1045-2315) or night shifts (1845-0715). Eye Surgery Center Surgical Services Peri-Op Program The Perioperative Program is a 6-month training program designed for nurses who have no operating room experience. The majority of training is conducted on the day shift with one rotation on the night shift. The program consists of classroom didactics and on the job training with preceptors in the different service specialties. In each specialty service rotation, the perioperative trainee will learn about the equipment, supplies, and instruments specific to the service. The perioperative trainees will also learn about the different processes, policies, and available resources. Throughout the training process, the operating room educators are checking in to verify that training is on track. Upon completion of the program, the perioperative nurse will meet with the OR Manager to review open shifts and choose their schedule. Work within the nursing process to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients. Serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups. PATIENT CARE - Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required * POLICIES - Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies * CARE PLAN - Work in collaboration with the healthcare team, implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching * upon successful completion of preceptor training assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel * EMERGENCY MEASURES - Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients * MEDICAL RECORDS - Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information * INQUIRIES - Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy * document and communicate clinical findings * PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols * PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes * PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk * PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner * PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right" Nationally Accredited Nursing Program Graduate RN MATRIX - Complete and maintain unit/clinic based required certifications and competencies as listed in the department expectations and/or the unit/clinic education matrix Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by the State of New Mexico CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of start date TESTING REQUIREMENTS: Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing Bilingual English/Spanish Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Chemicals, bio hazardous materials requiring extensive safety precautions and may require protective equipment Registered Nurse
