Job Overview
We are excited to announce the opening of a new Japanese fine dining restaurant and are seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will bring a genuine passion for sincere hospitality and the art of Japanese pastry to our team and guests. This role offers an opportunity to showcase creativity in high-end plated desserts while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for executing recipes to standard, preparing seasonal components, and ensuring every plate meets our aesthetic requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and plate innovative desserts, utilizing deep knowledge of Japanese ingredients, techniques, and aesthetics.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station in strict compliance with NYC food safety standards.
  • Execute daily prep lists with precision.
  • Monitor inventory levels of pastry ingredients and alert management when supplies are low.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate service flow and timing.
  • Uphold brand standards, ensuring every dessert reflects the restaurant’s commitment to precision and elegance.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Experience as a Pastry Cook in a fine dining or upscale hospitality setting.
  • Minimum 2 years in NYC within high-end pastry kitchens, Michelin-starred establishments, or upscale restaurants.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle high-volume service and intricate prep work efficiently.
  • Background in food safety and valid NYC Food Protection Certificate.
  • Professional demeanor with extreme attention to detail and artistic plating skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant schedule.
