The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non‑profit, multi‑site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco. The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services. We advocate for health equity and deliver innovative, high‑quality services responsive to the neighborhoods and diverse communities we serve.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Pediatrician to primarily cover after‑hours and weekend clinics. The role reports to the Chief Medical Officer and is a Regular, Part‑Time, Exempt position with a starting hourly range of $113–$125.

Primary Objective

The Pediatrician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical services, health supervision, and ongoing care for children and youth from birth through 18 years of age. This includes diagnosis, treatment, and clinical management of acute and chronic conditions, preventive care, screenings, health education, and ensuring confidentiality.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Assume direct responsibility for the health care of children and adolescents, including well‑baby visits, physical exams, and frequently occurring acute illnesses and chronic diseases of children.
  • Provide ambulatory preventive medical services in accordance with community national standards, AAP and DHHS guidelines.
  • Treat acute and chronic medical conditions per AAP standards.
  • Provide ambulatory medical services and health education to adolescents in the Teen Clinic per AAP and community guidelines.
  • Participate in community and media educational programs in Spanish and English.
  • Provide continuity of care for hospitalized and referred patients per health‑center protocols.
  • Maintain staff privilege at a community hospital and/or San Francisco General Hospital and serve on hospital committees as required.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance activities and development of practice guidelines.
  • Participate in organizational committees such as pharmacy and quality assurance.
  • Consult, supervise, and precept mid‑level practitioners, pediatric residents, and medical students.
  • Attend Health Center medical or departmental meetings as directed.
  • Commit to providing immunizations to all pediatric and adolescent patients per ACIP and AAP guidelines.
  • Provide clinical consultation by telephone to mid‑level providers at satellite clinics.
  • Provide all clinical services as needed across all sites, including satellite clinics.
  • May be assigned to other departmental clinical projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid California medical license and current DEA license.
  • Board certified or board eligible with residency training in pediatrics.
  • Ability to work weekend and weekday shifts in after‑hours clinic.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with practice‑management and electronic health‑record systems.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to working with diverse cultures and communities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records and personal information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English.
  • Experience with general office equipment (fax, copier, printer, phone, computer).
