Job Description

Position Title: Dog Daycare, Cleaning & Grooming Assistant
Location: Blue Water Pet Care – Port Huron, MI
Job Type: Part-Time with the option to become Full-Time
Reports To: Shift Manager / Facility Manager
Starting Pay: $14/hour during the 90-day training period
Pay After Training: $15–$17/hour depending on experience and advancement
Blue Water Pet Care is looking for a hardworking, reliable team member to join our staff as a Dog Daycare, Cleaning & Grooming Assistant. This is a fast-paced, physical job where you’ll care for dogs in group play, help keep the facility spotless, and assist with basic grooming services. Key Responsibilities:

Dog Supervision & Handling:

• Monitor dogs in group play for safety and appropriate behavior
  
• Redirect high-energy or reactive dogs when needed
  
• Rotate dogs in and out of daycare and boarding areas
  
• Provide water, meals, and potty breaks as assigned
  

Cleaning & Facility Upkeep:

• Deep clean and sanitize play areas, kennels, floors, toys, bowls, and crates
  
• Sweep, mop, do laundry, and keep all areas organized and presentable
  
• Pick up waste and dispose of it properly throughout the day
  
• Follow checklists and protocols to maintain a clean, safe environment
  

Grooming Assistance (Training Provided):

• Bathe dogs using proper techniques and shampoos
  
• Towel dry or blow-dry dogs depending on coat type
  
• Trim nails and clean ears as needed
  
• Brush out coats and prepare dogs to go home clean and fresh
  
• Comfort and safely handle dogs who may be nervous during grooming
  

Team Support & Client Interaction:

• Communicate with other staff and follow manager instructions
  
• Greet clients with a friendly attitude during drop-offs and pick-ups
  
• Help with check-in/check-out and reporting any issues with dogs
  

Requirements:

• Must be 18+ years old
  
• Physically able to lift 50 lbs, walk/stand for long periods, and work in all weather
  
• Willing to work weekends and holidays as needed
  
• Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
  
• Strong work ethic — dependable, focused, and detail-oriented
  
• Team player who takes direction well and stays productive
  
• Willing to learn grooming basics (experience is a plus but not required)
  
• Must be okay with getting wet, dirty, or slobbered on — a lot!
