What You Will Do
- Collaborate with partners to define computing requirements based on standard architectural solutions with a strong background in NetApp, storage networking, backup software, and tape library systems. Design end-to-end solutions with program leads and end-users across hardware and OS technologies.
- Integrate with programs, network engineering, and HPC teams to solve complex infrastructure problems.
- Maintain high reliability and performance through systems monitoring and infrastructure management with a focus on data storage performance requirements.
- Respond to online service requests from users and ensure server and application compliance with security and performance requirements (DFARS, RMF, NIST Cybersecurity Framework).
- Manage NAS/SAN storage products, focusing on NetApp FAS systems (ONTAP, configuration, migrations, upgrades, troubleshooting, health monitoring, inter-cluster connectivity, backups).
- Collaborate with architectural, DTPL, end-user, network, and HPC teams; gather storage requirements for capacity, performance, space & power.
- Maintain documentation and provide routine updates to management; attend project status meetings.
- Operate FC-based tape library systems: hardware/software installation, cabling, fiber channel connections, and target configuration.
- Champion Storage & Data Protection standards and act as backup software subject matter expert; prioritize client servers and data backups.
- Monitor and troubleshoot backups; cycle and track tape inventories; install and upgrade hardware and software.
- Develop, revise, and maintain technical/operational documentation; support multi-domain environments (Windows, Linux, virtualization, DNS, NFS, imaging/build automation).
- Mentor team members and provide timely project updates; ensure 24x7 operational readiness and readiness for after-hours work when required.
- Obtain DoD Directive 8140/8570 certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within 1 year of hire.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
- Experience with Storage and Data Protection systems; Linux (RHEL preferred) and Windows OS experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RAID-based storage systems (NetApp, Veritas, Commvault, Veeam); strong data backup/data protection experience.
- Strong Excel, Agile/Scrum experience, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and patch management (WSUS, SCCM, Chef, Puppet, Exchange).
- Knowledge of system monitoring (Nagios, Retina) and compliance tools (ACAS, Nessus).
- Experience with virtualization (VMware vSphere, ESXi) and thin client technologies; Centrify or equivalent OS account management.
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP) and scripting/programming capabilities.
- Security+ certification or willingness to obtain within 1 year.

Relocation and Salary
Salary range for this role is 82,000 USD – 164,000 USD. Relocation assistance is available per policy. Application window may close approximately 40 days from posting, with potential extensions based on business needs.
