Summary:

Engages in irrigating, cooling, fixing mainlines, and all aspects of growing/producing tree crops by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate an ATV to perform job task

  • Turn on irrigation according to foreman’s instructions.

  • Observe fruit temperature to turn on overhead cooling

  • Fix pipes, sprinklers, mainlines, and any other equipment related to irrigation.

  • Site prepares for new blocks

  • Apply fertigation

  • Place/remove bins within harvest blocks.

  • Other job tasks may include pruning, thinning, pulling weeds, trellis work, tree training, general clean up, and planting.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 3 subordinate supervisors and anywhere from 6 to 30 employees.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • ATV Training

  • Complete task assigned on time as directed by foreman or crew boss.

  • Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

  • Is consistently at work on time; Ensures employer is notified of absence; arrives at trainings/orientations on time.

  • Positive attitude, ready to work with fellow employees to assure task is done. Willing to ask questions if confused and doesn’t comprehend job task.
