Our skilled nursing facility located in Winchester,Tennessee, has developed a pulmonary program that serves our short and long-term residents’ respiratory and cardiac needs and comorbidities by strengthening their bodies that have been debilitated by the heaviness of the pandemic and/or chronic illness. We have established policies and procedures that cater to our ability to proactively focus on bettering the lives we serve. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Respiratory Therapist, licensed in the State of Tennessee, and accredited with the National Board of Respiratory Care, with a love of servant leadership. Alongside the Director of Nursing and Infection Preventionist, the RT will execute treatments and interventions as each resident needs to reduce poor outcomes and increase health and well-being! Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, Infection Preventionist, and Pulmonary Coordinator, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, state and federal guidelines, and the department policies and procedures.
Hourly rate based on experience, $32-42 per hour
Main Responsibilities:
Maintains knowledge of the varying aspects of all things pulmonary as allowed within the therapist’s scope and licensure of the skilled nursing facility.
Administers respiratory therapy treatments and interventions, understands the purpose of the interventions and the possible side effects associated with each.
Able to assess barriers interfering with participation and optimal level of function when performing treatments.
Coordinates with other staff of the facility (i.e. nursing, physical therapy, infection preventionist) to assure maximal health and prompt intervention when a problem is identified.
Follows departmental equipment sterilization procedures and maintains effective infection control.
Documents all pertinent data on the patient’s medical record following completion of any extension of the Pulmonary Program.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and treatment modalities extended to residents with varying acuity level, age, and life situation.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure proper, efficient functioning.
Maintains thorough knowledge of use, management, and hazards of oxygen therapy.
Contributes to the development of and follows the individualized care plan for each resident.
Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity.
Demonstrates ability to assess patient, his/her need, and ability to tolerate treatment and reassessment for response to treatment.
Demonstrates ability to work with varying populations and manage conflict appropriately.
Attends or conducts education in-service programs to maintain professional competency. Obtains appropriate program-specific education and training.
Performs additional duties assigned by the department manager.
Professional Requirements:
Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
Current CRT or RRT licensure in the state of Tennessee
Accredited with the National Board of Respiratory Care
Maintain active licensure and CEUs.
Complies with state and Federal regulatory requirements.
Complies with organizational policies and procedures.
Complies with Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines.
Communicates and complies with the Mission, Vision, and Values as well as the focus statement of the department.
Current ACLS and BLS Certification.
