Overview
Our client is a leading force in the North American energy sector, driving innovation and building critical infrastructure for a sustainable future.We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the design and construction of utility-scale solar projects. This role will play a critical part in managing third-party engineering firms responsible for delivering complete engineering design packages.
The position spans the full project lifecycle—from concept development through construction and commissioning—and requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including environmental, procurement, transmission, and project management. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, project coordination experience, and the ability to balance cost, performance, and reliability through value engineering.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage and oversee third-party engineering contractors developing solar project design packages
· Support projects across the full lifecycle: concept development, design, construction, and commissioning
· Coordinate with internal teams including environmental, procurement, transmission, and project management
· Apply value engineering principles to optimize cost, reliability, and performance
· Review engineering deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives
· Lead coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams (electrical, civil, structural, materials)
· Track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
· Support budget tracking and cost management for capital projects
· Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout project execution
· Facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress
Required Skills & Experience· Minimum 5+ years of relevant engineering experience (flexibility for highly qualified candidates)
· Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
· Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering principles (electrical, civil, structural, materials)
· Proven ability to manage external vendors and engineering consultants
· Strong project management, coordination, and organizational skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities
· Experience applying value engineering to optimize project outcomes
Preferred Qualifications· Experience with utility-scale solar projects (highly preferred)
· Experience in related energy or infrastructure domains, including:
o Distributed generation (DG) / commercial solar
o Wind energy
o Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
o Combined cycle or nuclear power
o Hydrogen systems
o Substations and transmission
· Candidates with strong engineering backgrounds from other industries (e.g., aerospace, civil, stormwater) will also be considered
Education Requirements· Bachelor of Science in Engineering (required)
Work Arrangement & Travel· Preferred location: Juno Beach, FL
· Remote work within Florida is acceptable
· Monthly travel to Juno Beach is required for remote candidates
