SHP Family Advocate

Community Action is seeking candidates for the SHP Family Advocate position to join our SHP team at our 210 O Street location. This individual will be responsible for providing case management services to homeless families, ensuring their basic needs are met, and assisting them in addressing long-term goals and needs.

This is a full-time position consisting of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Starting Pay: $22.42/hour

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide case management services through home visits, referrals, and limited transportation support.
  • Advocate for clients by coordinating services with community agencies and landlords.
  • Assist with housing placement, pre-inspections, and housing authority inspections.
  • Organize and document donations and in-kind contributions.
  • Conduct outreach through coordinated entry systems, assessments, and community events.
  • Ensure program compliance through accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Attend training and collaborate with staff to support agency goals and mission.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in human services, business, or related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years relevant work experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written proficiencies of the English language required.
  • Valid Nebraska Driver’s License and good driving record required.
  • Must have knowledge of agency programs, services, policies, procedures, and community resources.
  • Must have strong negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in using computers, Microsoft Office, and office equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personalities.
  • Must be able to follow directions, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to contribute to team efforts and participate in required training.
