Responsibilities

Software Engineer - Secure Systems

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to design, implement, test, and maintain secure software systems. The ideal candidate will apply advanced software security techniques, contribute across all levels of the architecture, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, resilient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, debug, and maintain new and existing software applications.
• Apply advanced software security techniques in alignment with the Technical Reference Architecture (TRA).
• Perform ongoing security testing, vulnerability assessments, and participate in peer code reviews to improve security and functionality.
• Recommend and implement engineering designs that address security vulnerabilities and strengthen system resilience.
• Contribute to all levels of software architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support long-term sustainability.
• Collaborate with team members to share knowledge, mentor peers, and promote secure coding practices.
• Continuously explore and adopt new tools, techniques, and best practices in software security and development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 20 years as a Software Engineer (SWE) on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Substitution: Four (4) additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
• Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance with a current polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

• Software Development:
  • At least six (6) years of experience (within the last 8 years) developing production software for Solaris or Linux environments.
  • Six (6) years of experience developing software using Java, C, or C++.
  • Demonstrated experience developing RESTful services.
  • Demonstrated experience developing analytics applications.
• DevOps & Automation:
  • Experience developing infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Cloud & Containerization:
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
• Database & Big Data Tools:
  • Demonstrated experience with Open Source (NoSQL) products such as HBase, Accumulo, Bigtable, etc.
• Programming & Frameworks:
  • Demonstrated professional experience in Java development.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
