You will be responsible for assisting physicians during minimally invasive procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout all interventional radiological treatments.
Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain interventional radiology equipment, ensuring all devices meet safety and operational standards before each procedure
  • Assist interventional radiologists during complex procedures, including vascular interventions, biopsies, drain placements, and other minimally invasive treatments
  • Position patients appropriately for optimal imaging and procedural access while explaining procedures to reduce patient anxiety
  • Monitor and record vital signs and patient responses during procedures, immediately reporting any changes to the clinical team
  • Maintain strict sterile field protocols and infection control standards throughout all interventional procedures
  • Operate fluoroscopy equipment and other imaging modalities with precision and technical competence
  • Document procedural details accurately, including equipment used, contrast agents administered, and patient responses
  • Assist with emergency situations and complications that may arise during procedures, providing immediate support to the medical team
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of radiation safety protocols and ensure minimal radiation exposure for patients and staff
  • Sterilize, disinfect, and properly store all equipment and supplies following departmental and regulatory guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless procedure execution and optimal patient outcomes

Must-Have Requirements
  • Current ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologists) certification required
  • Minimum two years of direct experience working as an Interventional Radiology Technician in an active clinical setting
  • Valid state radiography license or certification demonstrating professional credentialing
  • Proven ability to work independently while remaining collaborative within a team environment
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols, HIPAA regulations, and patient confidentiality requirements
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail when handling sensitive medical equipment
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and assist patients with positioning
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining composure during complex or emergency situations
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification is preferred
  • Flexibility to work the assigned schedule including weekends on a call-only basis every other weekend
  • Valid passport or travel documentation allowing relocation to Hartford for the contract duration
  • Non-local candidates only; willingness to relocate for the duration of the assignment
