Wet Utility Estimator

Location: Chandler, AZ
Compensation: $75,000–$95,000/year

Job Summary

Midwest Contracting Inc. is seeking a Wet Utility Estimator with at least 4 years of experience to support our estimating team. This role is heavily focused on quantity takeoffs, material identification, and bid organization for underground wet utility projects.

This is not a full bid ownership role—you will specialize in takeoffs and materials, while working closely with the Project Manager, Chief Estimator, and Owner, who finalize pricing and proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using PlanSwift or On-Screen Takeoff
• Analyze drawings and specs for water, sewer, and storm drain systems
• Identify and quantify pipes, fittings, structures, and wet utility materials
• Request, track, and manage supplier/vendor quotes
• Organize and maintain bid documents, takeoffs, and pricing information
• Support the estimating team by keeping bids structured, complete, and on schedule
• Coordinate with internal team members throughout the bid process

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in wet utility estimating
• Proficiency in PlanSwift and/or On-Screen Takeoff (required)
• Strong knowledge of underground wet utility materials and components
• High proficiency in plan reading and digital takeoffs
• Experience with water, sewer, and storm drain projects
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple bids at once

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience working for a civil contractor or utility subcontractor
• Familiarity with Bluebeam or other construction software
