Role Overview: Weekend Nurse Practitioner Opportunity — Richmond, VA

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our Richmond team for weekend coverage. This role focuses on delivering high-quality clinical care within post-acute and long-term care facilities during weekend shifts, collaborating with onsite staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities — Weekend NP, Post-Acute Care
  • Conduct timely and thorough assessments for residents presenting with acute or chronic medical concerns during weekend coverage
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, appropriate to the post-acute population
  • Manage acute issues, provide urgent care as needed, and arrange appropriate follow-up with primary teams or facility providers
  • Collaborate closely with nursing staff, primary care providers, social workers and other multidisciplinary team members to coordinate weekend care and transitions
  • Monitor medication efficacy and safety; identify and manage adverse effects and medication interactions
  • Document clinical encounters accurately and promptly in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and communicate relevant updates to weekday clinicians
  • Participate in facility rounds and handovers to ensure continuity of care and clear communication across teams
  • Provide education and guidance to facility staff and families on acute care management and appropriate escalation pathways
Essential Qualifications and Skills — Weekend NP, Richmond VA
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited program
  • Active and unrestricted Virginia Nurse Practitioner license and current DEA registration where applicable
  • Experience in post-acute, long-term care, urgent care or acute care settings preferred
  • Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills with the ability to manage common acute presentations independently on weekends
  • Proficient with EMR systems and timely clinical documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and facility staff
  • Demonstrated professionalism, compassion and commitment to patient-centered care
