Medical Director – Transplant/LVAD (MCS) Program

We are seeking a board-certified Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist to serve as Medical Director for a Transplant/LVAD (MCS) program. This physician leader will provide clinical oversight, drive quality and regulatory performance, and partner with section and surgical leadership to advance program growth and academic impact.

  • Leadership & oversight: Provide clinical oversight across inpatient and outpatient services for advanced heart failure, LVAD/MCS, and heart transplant patients.
  • Quality & compliance: Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure ongoing compliance with key regulatory/accrediting bodies (e.g., UNOS/CMS).
  • Program development: Drive strategic growth and operational excellence for the MCS/Transplant program, in close collaboration with Advanced HF section leadership and transplant surgical directors.
  • Team-based care: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team including advanced HF physicians, advanced practice providers, and trainees/fellows.
  • Clinical expertise: Demonstrate depth across advanced heart failure care, including inpatient, outpatient, and outreach services.
  • Academic contribution: Participate in an academic environment with an active cardiology fellowship and opportunities for teaching, scholarship, and clinical innovation.
  • Subspecialty opportunities: Opportunity to participate in established programs/clinics such as CardioMEMS, amyloidosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiac sarcoid, and a robust certified pulmonary hypertension program.
  • Regional impact: Engage with a multidisciplinary cardiogenic shock initiative that supports multiple owned and affiliated medical centers across the state and Gulf South region.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years post-fellowship experience with expertise in mechanical circulatory support and transplantation.
