Job Description
Performance Standards and Job Expectations:
- First point of contact to the customer. (Check-in, estimate, progress updates, until completion of job/payment.)
- Coordinates scheduling priorities with the Shop Supervisor to ensure all jobs are scheduled in a manner consistent with customer’s expectations.
- Maintain active lines of communication with the customers to ensure maximum efficiency. (Phones/Checks Voicemail & Email)
- Coordinates with the Shop Supervisor to determine which repair are required.
- Advises customers of any additional repairs not on the original repair order prior to performing the work.
- Service Writer must ensure that all representations to the customer are documented into the customer’s file to eliminate the possibility of miscommunication.
- Log any damage or malfunctioning items on customer’s vehicle on the designated check-in sheet and obtain the customer’s signoff prior to the commencement of the work.
- Establish customers method of payment/account/warranty.
- Utilization of Jerr-Dan Online Express to determine Jerr-Dan Wrecker Warranties prior to commencement of the work.
- Creates estimate, review with customer and obtain signoff prior to commencement of the work.
- Creates repair orders.
- Schedule appointments after consulting with Shop Supervisor, confirm with the customer and add them to the calendar.
Work Environment Exposure to loud noises and odors intermittently in the shop environment. This position may require working long hours as well as evening and weekend hours.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated sales skills and ability to make appropriate service recommendations to customers
- Basic mechanical ability and/or ability to understand mechanical repair and service processes and procedures to understand and relay this information to Customers and communicate effectively with Service Technicians
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Solid keyboard skills with ability to enter data accurately and efficiently
