Commercial Carpenter & Door Installer (DoD Projects)

Location: San Diego, Naval Base Point Loma
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Carpenter & Door Installer to join our team supporting Department of Defense (DoD) construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in commercial carpentry, metal framing, hollow metal and wood door installation, hardware installation, and working on federal or military construction sites.

This position requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict project specifications and security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial wood and hollow metal doors and frames
• Install door hardware including panic devices, closers, locksets, and access control prep
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and submittals
• Perform finish carpentry and rough carpentry tasks as needed
• Ensure installations meet project specifications and DoD quality standards
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with OSHA standards
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades
• Troubleshoot and adjust doors and hardware for proper operation

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial carpentry experience
• 2+ years of commercial door and hardware installation experience preferred
• Experience working on federal or military (DoD) projects highly preferred
• Ability to read construction documents and door/hardware schedules
• Familiarity with hollow metal frames, wood doors, and commercial hardware
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass background check; ability to obtain base access (if required)

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Experience with access control hardware prep
• Experience with SCIF or high-security installations
• Prior clearance or ability to obtain security clearance (if required)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 75+ lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work overhead
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
