Overview:
A leading healthcare organization is seeking a senior-level Director of Benefits to lead the strategy, design, and execution of comprehensive employee benefits programs. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of benefits administration, ensuring regulatory compliance, and aligning total rewards strategies with organizational goals. The position also leads vendor relationships and a team of benefits professionals while driving innovation and efficiency across programs.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs, including health, welfare, and retirement plans
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations (ERISA, IRS, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.)
  • Oversee vendor relationships including consultants, brokers, actuaries, and third-party administrators
  • Collaborate with HR leadership to align benefits strategy with broader Total Rewards initiatives
  • Evaluate and enhance benefits offerings to remain competitive and cost-effective
  • Develop and track metrics to assess program effectiveness and ROI
  • Partner with HRIS and IT teams to improve systems, automation, and employee experience
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to the benefits team
  • Serve as escalation point for complex benefits issues and process improvements
  • Support communication strategies to ensure employees understand available benefits

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing benefits programs, including design, implementation, and compliance
  • Direct experience within a healthcare environment
  • Strong knowledge of retirement plans (401(k), pension, 403(b)) and health & welfare programs
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and driving strategic initiatives
  • Experience working with HRIS systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Professional certifications such as CEBS or CBP
  • Experience with wellness program development
  • Exposure to value-based or alternative healthcare benefit models
