Job Description Aya Locums has an immediate opening for a locum Hematology/Oncology job in Bristol, VA paying $575/hour - $600/hour. Job Details: * Position: Physician * Specialty: Hematology/Oncology * Start Date: 07-06-26 * Length: 13 weeks Schedule and Coverage: * Shift Coverage: Scheduled + No Call * Shift Schedule: Standard 5, 8-Hour 08:00 (Flexible) - 16:00 (Flexible) About the Facility: * Facility Type: Surgical Center About Locum Hematology/Oncology (Hem/Onc) Physician Jobs: This is a generalized description of locum Hem/Onc physician job requirements. Specific assignment details may vary based on the healthcare facility, geographic location, patient population and types of treatment protocols. General Job Responsibilities: * Evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with blood disorders and various cancers, including administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and other treatment modalities. * Provide comprehensive care to patients, including developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, managing side effects, and coordinating care with other specialists. * Consult with other physicians and members of the healthcare team on complex hematological and oncological cases. * Provide patient education about diagnoses, treatment options and disease management, to support informed decision-making. * Conduct regular follow-up visits to monitor patient progress, adjust treatments as needed and provide ongoing support. * Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Skills: * Strong understanding of Hem/Onc principles, treatments and procedures. * Excellent clinical judgment and the ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations. * Ability to effectively communicate complex information to patients, families and healthcare teams. * Expertise in performing and interpreting diagnostic tests. * Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams. Minimum Education Requirements: * Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. * Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). * Fellowship training in Hem/Onc. License & Certifications: * Board certification in hematology and/or oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). * Active and unrestricted medical license in Virginia. Experience: * While specific requirements may vary, most locum Hem/Onc positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
