Overview

Maritime Project Manager sought by WSP with potential to work out of our Maritime offices in Raleigh-NC, Houston-TX, San Diego, Irvine-CA, or Tampa-FL. The successful candidate will be involved in projects with our Ports and Maritime Team and be part of a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Take responsible charge for supervising the work of staff engineers, supervising task leads, and self-perform calculations and prepare drawings and technical specifications.
  • Prepare technical studies and reports and guide/review the work of staff engineers.
  • Perform oversight of calculations, cost estimates, drawings, technical specifications and reports.
  • Perform quality assurance checks. Manage/lead projects, tasks and staff for marine facility projects, including various types of cargo terminals, federal facilities, and clients such as port authorities, DoD, private terminals, and public agencies.
  • Perform multi-discipline management and coordination of internal and external teams comprised of civil, structural, geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, coastal, fire protection, and architecture.
  • Prepare alternatives analysis reports and presentations for repair projects and capital improvement programs.
  • Lead review meetings, client presentations, and design charrettes.
  • Perform business development and general marketing activities. Maintain positive client relationships. Participate in preparation of technical proposals, presentations, negotiations, and staff estimates.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering with marine, port, and coastal design experience.
  • Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
  • Aptitude in maritime-related codes (ASCE, COPRI, etc.) and Department of Defense (UFC, UFGC) criteria.
  • Competency or ability to supervise staff in state-of-the-art computer programs.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a high-pressure work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card which requires a TSA background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with design and management of Port Authority, NAVY, or Coast Guard projects.
