Job Description:

Microchip is currently hiring full-time Production Specialists at our facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. No prior experience is necessary. We are invested in our employees, and our in-house training programs will provide you all the tools, resources, and support you need to be successful. We regularly promote from within the company, so this position is a great opportunity to begin your career with Microchip.

This role will require completing and passing a basic online math and comprehension test before advancing to an onsite interview. 

Shift will be either:

Front Nights (B shift) every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, every other Saturday 7:00pm-7:12am

Or

Back Nights (D shift) every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, every other Saturday 7:00pm-7:12am

Our night shift does receive a differential in addition to their base pay.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Learn the essential protocol for the cleanroom including the smock requirements.
  • You will learn to operate the machines (or “tools”) that manufacture silicon wafers to make computer chips - microcontrollers and other embedded control products.

    • The machines operate with elements such as water, gas, heat, metals, and various chemicals.
  • You will learn to check and qualify tools and run engineering experiments to ensure that equipment and processes are running within specified limits.
  • Communicate to the appropriate people when equipment and processes do not meet specified limits or are not working properly.
  • In time, you will learn multiple areas to diversify your skill set.
  • Learn and perform all factors needed to develop the knowledge and expertise to help your team meet production goals.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.  
  • Basic computer, math and reading comprehension skills.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • The ability to follow detailed work specifications and instructions for each piece of equipment, while also meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain and exhibit a positive and productive attitude and behavior with others.
  • Willingness to participate in building a positive culture and contribute to a pleasant work environment.
  • The ability to work on multiple different tasks throughout the day by focusing on one task at a time and paying careful attention to detail until completed, then quickly moving on to the next task.   
  • Working across designated areas of the cleanroom with the related machinery.
  • Prior success working individually and in a team environment.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Availability to work a defined schedule assigned to you.
  • Adaptability to change.
  • Is a continuous learner and desires to enhance his/her skills and knowledge.
  • Produces quality work, takes the job seriously, and displays good work habits.
  • Takes the initiative to stay busy, work hard, and be productive.
  • Perform work that can be repetitive in motion.
  • Ability to wear a cleanroom suit and PPE.

    • The cleanroom smock consists of a hood, face veil over the nose and mouth, safety goggles, light weight suit, fitting nitrile gloves, and shoe coverings.

Preferred:

Prior semiconductor production experience in a cleanroom environment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand 95%, walk 90%, sit 5%. Must also be able to carry and lift 6lbs, and push and pull up to 85 lbs on wheels.

Benefits of working at Microchip

The hourly pay range for this position, which could be performed in Colorado, is $17-22/hr.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
