Storied French luxury department store, Printemps, is preparing to open its first ever US location at One Wall Street in the heart of the Financial District.

Located in the historic 50-story landmark, Printemps will have five distinct food and beverage concepts ranging from a casual cafe to a fine dining restaurant. Food and beverage is helmed by Top Chef alumnus and 3-time James Beard

Description:

We are looking for hard-working and detail oriented overnight dishwashers and porter for full-time employment. 

You will be responsible for working within a team to ensure tools, plates, silverware and more within the restaurant are clean and organized. It’s an incredibly vital part of the operations of our restaurants located at 1 Wall Street (Printemps), and we’re looking for the right person to help create a great work environment for our colleagues. 


You Are:

  • Reliable: that may be relied on or trusted; dependable in achievement, accuracy, honesty, etc.

Characteristics of success:

  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail to address the cleaning and facility needs, both in the dining room and the kitchen
  • Possess a working understanding of sanitation codes and regulations
  • Feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with an understanding of how to operate within a busy kitchen
  • Be able to speak and understand English
  • Be able to stay calm under pressure
  • Be able to closely follow directions
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds 
  • Possess a minimum of one year experience in a similar position
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time and work in a wet, confined area with elevated temperatures
  • Be prepared for continuous bending, reaching, twisting and use of hands and arms

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be on duty and in uniform at scheduled time
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and other areas as requested,  keep the dish area organized and free of clutter.
  • Set up dishwashing stations, including dish machines and sinks.
  • Ensure floors are clean and dry throughout your shift.
  • Wash, stack, and store glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers properly.
  • Change water in machines and sinks every two hours, or more frequently as needed, while correctly using chemical dilutions.
  • Maintain trash cans during your shift and remove full trash cans and boxes at the end of each shift.
  • Support the chef with any additional tasks as required.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise.
  • Includes working in refrigerated areas and on surfaces that can be wet and slippery
  • Typically, maintains a moderate noise level
  • Working with exposure to dust, mold, fragrances and other fumes and airborne particles, fresh fruits, vegetables, house plants, and flowers
  • Working in proximity to and using common commercial cleaning agents
  • Frequent handwashing is required Physical Demands
  • Consistently required to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, grasp, twist and turn, talk, listen and hear. Consistent fine finger manipulations and repetitive motions with hands and feet
  • Required to stoop and climb ladders or step stools 
  • As needed, position requires sitting, crawling, and climbing stairs
  • Consistently required to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Occasionally required to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Work performed requires medium physical strength
  • Consistently required to use near and peripheral vision, in addition to depth perception Schedule Demands
  • Required to work weekends
  • Required to work government and religious holidays
  • Occasionally required to work up to 12 hours

Physical Demands:

  • Consistently required to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, grasp, twist and turn, talk, listen and hear. Consistent fine finger manipulations and repetitive motions with hands and feet
  • Occasionally required to stoop and climb ladders or step stools
  • As needed, position requires sitting, crawling, and climbing stairs
  • Consistently required to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Occasionally required to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance

Schedule Demands:

  • Required to work weekends 
  • Required to work nights (10pm - 2:30am)
  • Position starts part time, option to extend to Full Time 
  • Required to work government and religious holidays
  • Occasionally required to work up to 12 hours
  • During busy seasons, time off requests may be accommodated on a first come first serve basis

  • This is a full-time position, days and hours of work vary; additional work hours and flexible schedule may be required. Additional training and/or education hours may be required.
