*Job Summary*
Spend your summer on the beautiful coast of Maine as a Sailing Instructor at Linekin Bay Resort! In this role, you'll introduce guests of all ages and experience levels to the joy of sailing by teaching lessons aboard our fleet of Rhodes 19 sailboats. Whether working with first-time sailors or helping returning guests build their confidence, you'll create a fun, welcoming, and safe learning environment that makes sailing a memorable part of every guest's vacation. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for sailing, hospitality, and outdoor recreation while helping guests develop lifelong skills on the water.
*Responsibilities*
* Teach private and group sailing lessons aboard Rhodes 19 sailboats for guests of varying ages and skill levels.
* Guide guests through the fundamentals of sailing, including rigging, points of sail, sail trim, steering, tacking, jibing, docking, knot tying, and basic navigation.
* Build guests' confidence over the course of their stay, adapting instruction to individual goals and experience levels.
* Prioritize the safety of all participants by following resort safety procedures and promoting responsible boating practices.
* Conduct pre- and post-sail inspections of boats, sails, and safety equipment to ensure everything is in excellent working condition.
* Monitor weather and water conditions to make informed decisions regarding lesson safety and scheduling.
* Create an encouraging, patient, and enjoyable learning atmosphere that reflects the resort's commitment to exceptional guest experiences.
* Communicate clearly with guests regarding lesson objectives, safety expectations, and progress.
* Assist with launching, retrieving, rigging, and maintaining the Rhodes 19 fleet and sailing equipment.
* Support other waterfront operations and recreational activities as needed to provide outstanding guest service.
*Qualifications*
* Experience sailing and confidently operating keelboats, preferably Rhodes 19s or similar daysailers.
* Previous sailing instruction or coaching experience preferred.
* Strong swimming ability and comfort working in open-water environments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-focused approach.
* Experience teaching or working with children, families, and adults from a variety of backgrounds.
* Ability to explain sailing concepts clearly while encouraging confidence and independence.
* Strong judgment, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining a safe waterfront environment.
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and assist with lifting, rigging, and moving boats and equipment.
* A positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and enthusiasm for creating memorable vacation experiences.
