Position Overview

A mission-driven non-profit organization located in Manhattan is seeking a strategic and compassionate Director of Human Resources to lead its HR function. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and values.
• Oversee all HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and compliance.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Lead and support change management efforts as the organization evolves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles.
• Prior experience in the non-profit sector strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
